Huawei Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro officially revealed

Huawei announced the Mate 70 series at a grand event in Beijing. The Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro , which consist of four different models in the series , stand out with their advanced features and innovative designs.

The Mate 70 stands out as the most compact model in the series. Its body design has a flat frame and is the thinnest phone in the series at 7.8 mm. Thanks to the IP69 certification, both the Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro are resistant to pressurized water.

The Mate 70 comes with a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display. Supporting Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate ranging from 1-120Hz, this display stands out with its peak brightness of 2,500 nits. The Mate 70 Pro, on the other hand, increases the screen size to 6.9 inches while maintaining the same resolution and refresh rate. Both models use the second generation of Kunlun Glass technology. This glass provides resistance to drops with its basalt fiber-reinforced structure.

The Mate 70 offers a 13MP ultra-wide-angle front camera, while the Mate 70 Pro adds a 3D depth sensor, which increases the security of facial recognition. The fingerprint scanners are integrated into the power button, which can be programmed for smart functions such as flash control, AI assistant, and mute.

Both models feature Huawei’s 50MP main camera with a variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture. This camera is equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS) support. The 40MP ultra-wide-angle lens is available on both the Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro.

There are differences between the models in terms of zoom features. The Mate 70 offers a 12 MP periscope camera with 5.5x optical zoom, while the Pro model comes with a 48 MP sensor and 4x optical zoom. A new spectral imaging sensor has been incorporated into the camera system of both models. This sensor increases color accuracy, providing natural skin tones and better shadow detail.

The spectral sensor supports 1.5 million multi-spectral channels, ensuring realistic color reproduction even in complex lighting conditions.

Although Huawei has avoided disclosing processor details following the US ban, it is estimated that the Mate 70 series will come with the Kirin 9100. This processor is claimed to be a 6nm chip produced with SMIC’s N+3 technology and operates at 2.67 GHz with a Cortex-X1 core.

The Mate 70 comes with a 5,300mAh battery capacity and supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The Mate 70 Pro, on the other hand, has a 5,500mAh battery and supports 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.
